Nokia 8.2 with pop-out camera system to rollout soon
« on: October 09, 2019, 11:43:40 AM »

The Nokia 8 series moved away from the flagship segment and down into the upper-midrange market upon the arrival of the Nokia 8.1 last December. The upcoming Nokia 8.2 is expected to maintain this positioning when it arrives later this year but it looks as though it’ll have one standout feature.

Back in late July, a report claimed the Nokia 8.2 would arrive later this year bearing an all-new pop-out camera system. At the time, the rumor seemed a little sketchy considering HMD Global has so far avoided the trend entirely, but now the folks over at Nokiamob have received word about a “unique” selfie camera solution that’s in the works for the phone. No further details were provided but this certainly adds weight to the pop-out camera rumor.

The presence of an external camera module likely means the display will ditch the notch of last year’s model in favor of an all-screen design. A minimum of three cameras are to be expected on the rear of the smartphone although the exact functionality and resolution of these sensors is yet to be revealed.

Powering the Nokia 8.2 will be a Snapdragon 700-series chipset, according to Nokiamob’s sources. Last year’s offering was powered by the Snapdragon 710 so an upgrade to the Snapdragon 730 seems very likely. Previous rumors have mentioned the possible presence of 8GB of RAM and 256GB of internal storage.

The Nokia 8.2 should launch in mid-November or early December with stock Android 10 straight out of the box as part of the Android One program. Price-wise the smartphone will probably stick to the €399 price point of its predecessor in Europe. A US launch, however, seems unlikely at this stage.
