Verizon to launch the LG V50 ThinQ 5G in June
« on: June 19, 2019, 06:59:16 AM »

In a couple of days, Verizon customers searching for a phone that supports its Ultra Wideband 5G network will have another option to choose from. On June 20th, the LG V50 ThinQ 5G joins the Moto Z3, Moto Z4, and the Samsung Galaxy S10 5G as phones available from the carrier that will connect to its fastest airwaves. Of course, the two Moto Z models require the purchase of a $199.99 5G Moto Mod that attaches to the back of both phones.

The LG V50 ThinQ 5G features a notched 6.4-inch OLED panel with a 1440 x 3120 resolution. That works out to a 19.5:9 aspect ratio giving the screen a sleek modern look. Powered by the Snapdragon 855 Mobile Platform, the device carries 6GB of memory and 128GB of storage. On the back is a triple camera setup consisting of a 12MP primary (with an aperture of f/1.5 and OIS), a 12MP telephoto camera sporting 2x optical zoom, and a 16MP Ultra-wide camera. In front, you'll find dual 8MP selfie snappers. Keeping the phone running is a 4000mAh battery, and Android 9 Pie is pre-installed.

The LG V50 ThinQ 5G is priced at $999.99. Using Verizon's Device Payment plan, the handset can be purchased starting on Thursday for 24 monthly payments of $41.66. But new and existing Verizon customers can trade in an eligible smartphone and receive up to $450 that will be received in the form of 24 monthly bill credits of $18.75. Additionally, those who switch to Verizon, buy an LG V50 ThinQ 5G using the Verizon Device Payment plan, and sign up for one of the carrier's unlimited plans will receive a $200 prepaid Mastercard. Existing subscribers can add a new unlimited line to score the prepaid card. Verizon's 5G Ultraband service is available on the carrier's Above and Beyond Unlimited plans. For a limited time, Verizon is waiving the $10 per month 5G access fee

Verizon's 5G service is currently available in Chicago and Minneapolis, but will be expanded later this year to markets like Atlanta, Boston, Charlotte, Cincinnati, Cleveland, Columbus, Dallas, Des Moines, Denver, Detroit, Houston, Indianapolis, Kansas City, Little Rock, Memphis, Phoenix, Providence, San Diego, Salt Lake City, and Washington, D.C. Verizon says that it will offer 5G in over 30 markets by the time 2019 comes to a close. If you aren't living in a market covered by Verizon's 5G signals, you can still order the phone. The handset will connect to the carrier's 4G LTE network.

Last month, Verizon's 5G network hit a peak download speed of 1Gbps allowing a Netflix movie to download in just 8 seconds. Of course, we expect much more once 5G service becomes prevalent, including the creation of new industries and companies that will ride the 5G economy to major success.
