Google looks to re brand its Express storefront app
« on: May 06, 2019, 06:08:17 AM »

Google Express allows both Android and iOS users to shop online from a large number of stores, and have that purchase shipped to them. First-time users get to take 20% (up to $20) off their bill using the checkout code MAYSAVE19. There have been some changes recently to Google Express. In January, Walmart mysteriously disappeared leaving Target as the largest store in the app. If you have a Google Account, your payment and shipping information is already available. This allows you to compare prices at multiple stores and checkout quickly when you're ready to make a purchase. Express already works with Google Assistant and allows users to shop by using their voices.

According to The Information (via 9to5 Google), Google plans on challenging Amazon by "rapidly" adding more retailers to the app and increasing YouTube integration. It is also expected to rebrand Google Express as Google Shopping, a name already used for the shopping-centric Google web search feature. The company is testing the combination of both Google Express and Google Shopping overseas, using the latter service's name.

As far as YouTube integration is concerned, Google plans to continue listing product recommendations under some YouTube videos. While right now these recommendations link to other online retailers like Amazon, future product recommendations on YouTube will link to the newly named Google Shopping.

Some of the stores that you'll currently find under the Google Express umbrella include Costco, Overstock, Best Buy, Google Store and 1-800 Flowers.
